There is no more fundamental design principle than the value of people. Only when people believe that a place is important does it become important. While the process of design is crucial, how that process involves and affects people is the more critical element.

Design Studio Retrospective

The Design Studio Retrospective takes a look back at more than 20 years of urban design and visioning for downtown Chattanooga. From the creation of the Studio in 1980, The Studio created a prodigious amount of visioning and design work that helped transform downtown Chattanooga. In the Summer of 2012, I collected and archived works of the Studio, and curated an exhibition in downtown Chattanooga. The exhibition followed the work of the Studio as it progressed from general downtown structure studies to its work on some of Chattanooga’s most beloved places.
